Since I was a child, I have been fascinated with Science, so I decided to study Biology. I obtained a BS in Biology from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. I enjoyed every class, even the most difficult ones because they helped me grow by overcoming obstacles. Later in my career, I wanted to work in research-related programs, but my life took a turn, and I decided to move to another country. I had the opportunity to live in other countries and study abroad. As a student abroad, I enhanced my skills, in interpersonal relationships and dialogue among people of different cultures and creeds. I learned to be open to the world and accept diversity and differences. Also, I experienced that I can learn from each person I might encounter and be proud of my identity. I have lived in the United States, Italy, Switzerland, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico.
In every country, I noticed the importance of the environment and the different efforts the community and the government will make to preserve it. However, I realized that the main issue to solve was education. I decided to apply for a position as a science teacher. At that point, I did not have the experience or skills to be a teacher, but I wanted to try it. I noticed that there was not an Environmental Science curriculum in the country's educational system. So, the first thing I taught was that I needed to update myself on science-related topics, especially Environmental Science. I enrolled in a program at UCLA, and I enjoyed it. I was able to understand the significance of climate change and the contribution that each human being can make to reverse the effects on the planet. I hope that I will contribute to the student's education by helping them take action on the environment and prepare them to become citizens of the world.
